Honda CB750 Cafe Racer

November 25th, 2008

Team,

As you reminded me before, posting pictures of scantily clad women sometimes gets people all sorts of riled up. Therefore, I did not post the image I used before when this bike was used to sell the cafe racer seat pictured on this bike. The post, dated 8/5/08, can be seen here if you wish to behave in a depraved manner and ogle the bike/bikini model! :P

However, in a bid for a late-season BCS bid, I am reposting the bike here (minus bikini model) as it is now for sale. What a beautiful bike! If it was beat to crap it would have a certain Mad Maxian image to it, but it isn’t…

Instead of summarizing, I have decided to simply cut-and-paste the ad copy from the eBay listing. The bike already has one bid, and I am sure it will meet reserve and go to a good home. Now get out there and kick some ass in the second half! And ignore the scantily clad bikini model in the tunnel on the way to the field!!!

CB750 Cafe Racer Seat and Clubman Bars

November 24th, 2008

I found this auction on eBay this morning. It includes a seat for a CB750 (no year listed) and two non-model-specific parts: clubman bars with grips and turn signals. The seat looks to be unmounted (new), but does have a few scratches in the black gelcoat. The bars and seat would make a good start to a cafe racer project if you have a CB750 sitting around that you have thought about modifying.

Cafe Racer Seat for SOHC CB750 / CB550

August 5th, 2008

Update: Sorry to those of you who might have been offended by the picture that included the image of the scantily clad Rats Hole model in the photo below. It was the best side shot of the seat/bike. My GF commented, and I had thought about whether or not to post the image, but it was the best shot of the bike…

Here’s a seat that looks fairly well made and reasonably priced (given the free shipping included). The examples of the seat on finished bikes looks pretty nice.

I have to admit that posts about seats are one of the most hit pages on the blog. That and tanks. It appears that these two items (seats and tanks) are the key to cafe racers. Maybe I will try a post on clip-ons and see what happens…

Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer Seat

July 31st, 2008

Sorry for the sh!tty picture (it appears to be of a prototype). But the seat appears cool. I am getting more serious about finding a seat for my Sportster, as I am finding more and more examples of these types of cafe racer seats for sale. I think it might be time to try one out…

Cafe Racer Seat for Honda CB750

July 31st, 2008

For your perusal, oh ye lovers of cafe racers (and CB750’s)…

One bolt on motorcycle seat in the cafe style for 1969-1976 Honda CB750’s. Made by Giuliari in Italy. Appears to be in great condition. This seems like a no-brainer add-on for anyone who wants to start their cafe conversion…

Alloy Cafe Racer Tank

July 30th, 2008

A while back, I posted an SR500 that was located in Bangkok. Here’s a tank from the same seller. I am guessing that he gets his parts as factory seconds from Japan given that the last few tanks (and this one) have a repair made to them. However, the repair in this case is on the underside of the tank.

I tend to post a lot of tanks, as I think cafe racers are defined in part by the shape of the tank. I have to admit that my Sportster doesn’t have tank shape going for it. The peanut tank just looks plain out of place. When I get some money, perhaps I will order one of these…

Kawasaki H1 Tracy Fiberglass Body Kit

July 29th, 2008

Do you have an H1 sitting around in need of something new and different? Do you want to stand out fromthe crowd at the local Quaker Steak and Lube bike nite? Do you really dig psychedelic paint jobs and wear cool bells and cords?

Well, have I got a deal for you. On eBay now with only about 9 hours left (as of 11:20am on 7/29/08 ) is this Tracy fiberglass body kit for a Kawasaki H1. I am assuming the super cool paint could be changed to better suit your taste, but why would you want to do that? It would be great to be blogging about a bike built up with this bodywork in a few months!!!

I have included a picture below of another Kawasaki (an H2, I believe) with a similar body kit as reference for potential final product after installation.

Cafe Racer Seat for your project…

July 24th, 2008

I can’t personally vouch for the quality of this particular seat, but I really like the style. When I get brave enough to chop up my Sportster frame, perhaps I will buy one of these.

Maybe someone who has bought one of these seats can comment? And be sure to check out the photos of the unfinished seat before you bid. I’d like to hear in case I decide to buy one…
